Oprah Chai Tea Replacement
In 2014, Starbucks created a Teavana Oprah Chai tea blend, especially for Oprah Winfrey. Starbucks only offers the original Oprah Chai tea recipe as brewed-to-order, but luckily you can find a similar chai blend right here in our Masala Chai loose tea. This Teavana tea replacement features a bold infusion of cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and cloves blended with loose leaf black tea.
What is Masala Chai?
The traditional Indian masala tea blend of crushed spices has been recrafted over the years into today's unique chai blend. Black tea is typically the base of a Masala Chai. We blend a strong, rich, Ceylon black tea that is robust enough to balance with all the flavorful chai spices.
Masala chai tea popularity has quickly spread as a worldwide favorite tea blend, and at Tealeavz it's no different. Our Oprah Chai is a Masala Chai without sugar.
Masala chai tea vs chai tea
In India, the term "chai" simply means tea. Masala means "a blend of spices". So Masala chai is simply a spiced tea and is often served with milk. Our Masala Spiced Chai includes a delicious blend of clove, cardamom, cinnamon stick, plus fresh ginger creating a fragrant, full flavor.
Masala Chai Benefits
A cup of Masala tea is packed with health benefits from start to finish. Black tea leaves, as you may already know, are powerful antioxidants. The fresh ginger and cloves help with inflammation as well as help aid digestion. And the combination of cinnamon and cloves help to boost immunity.
Does Masala Chai have caffeine?
Yes, as a robust, black Ceylon tea, the caffeine level of Masala Chai is high.
How to brew Masala Chai tea
STEEP at 212° for 7-10 minutes
For Oprah, a cup of chai is her time for meditation, a time to focus on her gratitudes and gain clarity in her head. Watching the Masala Chai steep while steaming the almond milk, and enjoying the aroma of the spices fill the room is all part of her experience.
We recommend two heaping teaspoons per 8 oz cup. Steep at 212° for 7-10 minutes and add sugar for a sweeter taste. Or add some steamed almond milk for a delicious chai latte.
Spiced tea can also be enjoyed iced. Simply put cooled tea and ice in a blender. Add the milk (or your desired cream) and blend. Top with a whip of cream.
MASALA CHAI INGREDIENTS: Black tea, cardamom, ginger root, cloves, natural cinnamon flavor, and cinnamon bark.
