What is Matcha?
Matcha is some of the finest Japanese green tea leaves ground into a fine green tea powder. Instead of steeping the tea leaves, you whisk the finely ground powder with hot water until the powder dissolves. This creates a frothy and healthy cup of tea.
Chock full of antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, matcha has been proven to support mental and physical health. So much so, that Matcha green tea has recently seen a surge in popularity due to its reported health benefits and distinct flavor. Consuming the entire tea leaf compounds the health benefits of green tea.
For the ultimate matcha experience, prepare your matcha with a matcha whisk, chasaku (matcha spoon), and chawan (Japanese matcha bowl). Makes a nice gift set as well!

How to Make Matcha Taste Good
Organic matcha flavor can taste a bit grassy to some, so drinking matcha may seem difficult. But don't give up! Try a matcha latte or an iced matcha latte for a creamy, refreshing beverage.
How to Make an Iced Matcha Latte
Make this delicious iced matcha latte recipe at home! Either hot or cold, Matcha Lattes are a creamy cup of deliciousness in three easy steps.
STEP ONE: Place 1-2 tsp of matcha powder in a bowl, preferably a matcha bowl, and then add in hot water. (You'll add more water later.)
STEP TWO: With a matcha whisk, make a zig-zag motion in the powder until it has dissolved. Pour in the remaining water and give it a few more whisks.
STEP THREE: Transfer the bowl to the refrigerator (or freezer if you're anxious) to chill for 15 minutes.
STEP FOUR: Once the matcha has cooled, fill a glass to the top with ice. Pour some soy milk (or your dairy choice) over the ice. Drizzle in a bit of simple syrup before pouring in the matcha. You can also use maple syrup in place of simple syrup to add natural sweetness.
Any of these dairy choices make delicious matcha lattes:
- Almond milk
- Whole milk
- Soy milk
- Oat milk
If you plan on enjoying the creamy treat often, using the right tools really does make a difference. A bamboo matcha whisk will give you a lump-free cup of matcha with the perfect amount of froth every time.
