What is Pu-erh Tea?
Pu-erh tea is a type of fermented loose leaf tea originating from the Yunnan province of China. The tea comes from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. The aging of Pu-erh tea enhances both the flavor and health benefits over time.
Tea masters create Pu-erh tea in loose tea leaves, brick or tea cake, or tuocha (bird's nest) forms. Each form offers a unique experience and flavor profile, making it versatile for different preferences.
Our Orange Pu-erh is a loose leaf tea, aged through a natural fermentation process. This results in a darker, richer body with soft, earthy flavor.
Because it is post-fermented, pu-erh is considered a black tea in China. In the West, we refer to it simply as a dark tea
As Pu-erh tea ages, the flavor evolves. Some say that Pu-erh fermented tea reaches its peak taste in about 60 years. It then begins to degrade over the next 40 years. (But doing the math, you'd be blessed to have to worry about that part.)
Does Pu-erh have caffeine?
Pu-erh Orange tea has a high caffeine content. This makes it a type of tea suitable for those looking for an energy boost.
What Does Pu-erh Tea Taste Like?
The warm and sweet taste of cinnamon, anise, and ginger adds to the smooth, earthy flavor of Orange Pu-erh. A soothing cup for a chilly day.
