What is Oolong Milk Tea?
Also known as Jin Xuan, Oolong Milk is a more recently cultivated variety of oolong tea. Originating from Taiwan, Oolong Milk Tea tastes light, creamy, and buttery. Tea drinkers compare the flavor to milk, hence giving it the name of Oolong Milk Tea or Milk Oolong.
There are lower grade Oolong Milk teas, but those oolongs have a "milk flavor" added to the tea leaves through aromatization, very often done to mask low-quality leaves. Aromatization means flavor has been sprayed on the oolong tea leaves, making it simply a flavored tea instead of an authentic milk oolong.
Our authentic Milk Oolong comes from high-grade leaves that have been lightly roasted and rolled, producing a subtle creamy flavor with a slight floral aroma as a natural nuance of the tea, enhanced only by the artisan’s processing of the oolong versus adding sprayed on flavor.
