Similar to Teavana's Samurai Chai Maté
Our Samurai Spirit Maté is an elegant balance of Yerba Mate tea with chai spices and tropical fruit undertones, creating a delicious, energizing cup full of flavor.
The amazing depth of the Samurai Chai Maté loose leaf tea blend is the ultimate Teavana replacement. Read our reviews and you’ll see many customers who agree!
What is Yerba Mate?
Popular in parts of South America, the leaves and twigs of the yerba mate plant are dried and steeped in hot water to make an herbal tea. Yerba mate can be enjoyed as a hot or iced mate tea.
What are the health benefits of Yerba Mate?
Like many teas, Yerba Mate is rich in antioxidants and beneficial plant nutrients. The antioxidant power of Yerba Mate is actually considered to be greater than green tea! Although the percentages are small, the tea may contain seven out of the nine essential amino acids our body needs, along with many important vitamins and minerals.
Yerba mate also contains natural compounds with anti-inflammatory properties that are great for your health.
Does Yerba Mate have caffeine?
Yes, if you are feeling a bit sluggish and need help with mental focus, Yerba Mate has a moderate level of caffeine that may help regenerate your energy level, but still steeps in with less caffeine than a cup of coffee.
Is Yerba Mate tea a good tea to blend?
Yes! The chai spice and fruit undertones of this mate blend make it a perfect pairing companion for other Chai teas such as White Ayurvedic Chai. We recommend blending these teas with a 1:1 ratio and brew the blend at the White Chai temperature. The result is a smooth, delicious mate tea blend with a spicy/fruity flavor. Adjust your steep time depending on your strength preference.
Other teas that include cinnamon, ginger, or masala spices also blend well with a yerba mate. If you experiment with the stronger spiced teas, we suggeststeeping no longer than 5 minutes, with just-below-boiling water temperature. This creates a spicy and sweet blend that'll keep you coming back for more.
This has become my new favorite morning wake up call. The cinnamon, ginger, and orange are so fragrant, but the tea and subtle fruit undertones makes this a great way to start the day!

SAMURAI SPIRIT MATÉ
Good tea but....
It’s similar to teavana but not the same. It’s missing the chocolate notes. That does not mean it’s not good. This is still a high quality tea you can enjoy in the Fall. Was shipped quickly. Thanks
Hi Brenda - If you like more of the chocolate notes, have you tried blending the Samurai Spirit with our Maharaja Oolong Chai? It is a delicious blend that will give you a little more spice and chocolate with cocoa nibs and cinnamon...a personal fave! :)
Love this blend!!!
I brew this alone but also love using it to play around with other blends! It can add a nice bit of spice to almost anything! My favorite so far is mixing it with their Maharaja Oolong Chai! =)
